What is Currently Open?

We have immensely enjoyed hosting our fellow Big Island Kama’āina (residents) for staycations. With the resumption of Trans-Pacific travel, we have been welcoming more visitors to the Island once again.

We wanted to help provide a page for visitors to understand what is open in the area. We will attempt to update this weekly however, there will likely be more openings so please check with the establishment first before making plans as we cannot guarantee current or future availability.

Beaches and Pools

  • Community Pools

    (As of Feb 11th, 2021)

    Community pools in the resorts have remained open through the summer and into the fall. Each gated community has their own rules for use. Typical rules involve wearing a mask when not in the water, eating or drinking. Most communities also have rules limiting gathering sizes, no visitors not staying in the home, and social distancing. Typically spas (hot tubs) have restrictions on the number of people that must also be from the same household in them at any time. Each community also has its own protocols for ensuring washrooms and pool-side furniture is kept safe. For each community use of facilities is at the individuals own risk.   • Community Fitness Centers

    For those communities that have fitness centers, they are mostly open with rules for use that include the number of people allowed simultaneously in them and the required use of mask.

  • Mauna Lani Owners Beach Club

    (As of Feb 11th, 2021)

    The Mauna Lani owners Beach Club is currently open for owners and guests in Mauna Lani homes (KaMilo, Villages, Kulalani, Fairways, Golf Villas, Islands, Mauna Lani Point).
    Parking is open, restrooms are open and Napua Restaurant is currently open.

  • Mauna Kea Club (Optional to Mauna Kea Resort Guests)

    For guests staying at the Mauna Kea homes in Wai'ula'ula and Kumulani there is an option to participate in the Mauna Kea Club program that offers access to hotel amenities. For more specific questions on a community facility please email us at vacationrental@paradiseinhawaii.com

Restaurants

  • Dining Guidelines

    Hawaii restaurants are open for takeout, pick-up and delivery services. They are also allowed to open for indoor dining at 50% capacity. Reservations are required for indoor dinning, with tables set at least 5 feet apart, and parties are limited to no more than 5 people per table. Masks must be worn at all times within restaurants except when actively eating/drinking.

  • Free Activities - Snorkeling, Biking and Playing in the Waves

    The Big Island is a wonderful uncrowded place to enjoy getting on a bike, going for a hike or playing in the waves. All our vacation homes include bikes, snorkel gear, and boogie boards. Simple things like building a sand castle with your kids or exploring for wildlife can create some of the best memories.

  • Beachside Yoga (Mauna Lani)

    Guests staying at the Mauna Lani Resort can join Beachside Yoga classes at the Mauna Lani Private Beach Club's Surf Shack on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 8am.

    Capacity is limited; please contact the Sports Club at 808-885-7755 to sign up and get further information.

  • Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park

    A highlight of visiting Hawai'i is the Volcanoes National Park. There are wonderful hikes and the scenery is amazing. The Island is a constantly changing landscape and over the past decade activity has ranged from quiet steaming vents to full on rivers of lava. It is extremely difficult to predict if there will be lava visible but the park is an amazing place to visit none-the-less.

  • Luau

    Mauna Kea Hotel Luau is resuming on Tuesdays and Fridays. Only members of the same family will be seated at a table. Outdoors with reduced capacity for social distancing. Table service replaces buffet.

    Legends of Hawaii Luau is also open with social distancing and Hilton CleanStay protections.

  • Helicopter Tours

    Blue Hawaiian Helicopters has resumed Big Island tours from the Waikoloa Heliport (minutes away from most of our vacation rentals. Paradise Helicopters are offering tours out of the Hilo airport as well.
