The Big Island has many great Farmers Markets featuring local farmers and artisans. These Markets are great places to get fresh food for your stay. Additionally, you can get souvenirs and gifts for your friends and family back home.

We have listed some of the Big Island’s Farmers Markets below and marked them on the map above (in Kona and Kohala). Click on the name of the Farmers Market to go to their website for more information about their vendors. We have listed the days of the week and times that the Farmers Markets are open, but make sure to check their website before you go, in case there are any changes.

 

Kailua-Kona Farmers Markets

 

Kona Farmers Market:

Every Wednesday through Sunday 7:00 am – 4:00 pm @ the intersection of Ali’i Drive & Hualalai Road

Also known as the Kailua Village Market, this is the biggest farmers market in Kona. Huge selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, coffee, and snacks. Lots of crafts, jewellery, and souvenirs for sale.

 

Keauhou Farmers Market:

Saturdays 8:00 am – 12:00 pm @ The Keauhou Shopping Center

This market specializes in locally-grown food and plants. While there are no crafts at this market, you can get flowers here. It features Kona County farmers – including vendors of 100% Kona coffee and macadamia nuts.

 

Ho’olu Community Farmers and Artisans Market:

Wednesdays & Fridays 9:00 am – 2:00 pm @ the Sheraton Kona Resort

This community-focused market has lots of great food from Big Island Farmers and a huge variety of artists and artisans. You will be sure to find some unique artwork, as well as delicious food at this weekday market.

 

South Kona Fruit Stand:

Every Monday through Saturday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm; Sundays 10:00 am – 4:00 pm @ 84-4770 Mamalahoa Hwy between mile markers 103 and 104

This is more of a farm stand than a farmers market. Open every day, it’s a great place to pick up fresh mangoes, avocados, and pineapples. Additionally, they have smoothies, juices, baked goods, handmade soaps, and coffee for sale.

 

South Kona Green Market:

Sundays 9:00 am – 2:00 pm @ Amy Greenwell Botanical Gardens, (82-6160 Mamalahoa Highway at mile marker 110)

The South Kona Green Market is focused on sustainably produced Big Island food and crafts. This market features fresh delicious food, live music, and hand-crafted items in the beautiful setting of a botanical garden. Bring a shopping bag!

 

Kohala Farmers Markets

 

Kings’ Shops Farmers Market:

Tuesdays 9:00 am – 2:30 pm @ The Kings’ Shops, Waikoloa Beach

Features locally-grown fruits, vegetables, and macadamia nuts, as well as baked goods, coffee, honey, and preserves. Very close to Mauna Lani.

 

Hawi Farmers Market:

Saturdays 8:00 am – 3:00 pm – Under the Banyan Trees in Hawi (Highway 270 & Hawi Road)

This market has a great atmosphere! Local farmers with fresh fruit and vegetables, eggs, honey, and preserves. Jewelry, clothing, and more from local artists. Enjoy a warm meal or snack while listening to live music.

 

Waimea Farmers Markets

 

Waimea Midweek Farmers Market:

Wednesdays 9:00am1:00pm @ 67-139 Pukalani Road, Waimea (Pukalani Stables on Parker Ranch)

Founded in 2011 with the goal of offering a place to exchange produce from local farmers & ranchers, local artisanal foods and art made by local artists during the midweek. The market is situated on Parker Ranch and supports the Paniolo Preservation Society and their Paniolo Heritage Center which is on the ranch, and is always open and free of charge during market hours. There is parking, picnic tables, shade, covered shopping, running water and restrooms.

 

Waimea Homestead Farmers Market:

Saturdays 7:00 am – 12:00 pm @  Waimea Elementary and Middle School Playground (Off Lindsey Road & Mamalahoa Highway)

This market has lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, goat cheese, locally-raised meat, and delicious hot meals. Live music creates a festive atmosphere on the first Saturday of the month.

 

Waimea Town Market:

Saturdays 7:30 am – 12:00 pm @ Parker School Grounds, Lindsey Road in Waimea

This is just up the road from the Waimea Homestead Farmers Market. Consequently, if you are in Waimea on a Saturday morning you can check out two markets! Vendors sell fresh fruits, goat cheeses, juices, locally-raised meat, and coffee. Funds raised from vendor fees go to support the Parker school’s educational programs.

 

Waimea Nui Farmers Market:

Saturdays 7:00 am – 12:00 pm @ 55 Mile Marker on Highway 19 (Mamalahoa)

This newer farmers market takes place at the Homestead Market’s old location. Check this one out for unique foods (poke tacos!) and fresh produce in a family-friendly atmosphere.

 

Kamuela Farmers Market:

Saturdays 7:30 am – 1:00 pm @ Historic Pukalini Stables 67-139 Pukalani Road

The Paniolo Heritage Center at Pukalani Stables hosts a Farmers Markets every weekend featuring local Big Island produce and handcrafted goods. The market is a great time to learn about paniolos (Hawaiian Cowboys) as the Paniolo Heritage Museum is open for free to market visitors.
