Great places to play and make
some new Hawaiian friends!


Playgrounds are a great place for kids to play and explore. Here is a selection of some of the best playgrounds on the Island!

 

Anuenue Playground

Located in Waimea, this large fort-style playground offers hours of fun for kids of all ages. There is a picnic area with picnic tables and large benches. Waimea can get brief bouts of rain, so a visit in the morning is often the best. For directions to Waimea Park, click here.

 

 

Mauna Kea Recreation Area

This playground is located near the Mauna Kea Visitor Center on Saddle Road. It’s the perfect place to stop and stretch your legs during trips to and from the other side of the Island. The 3,700 square-foot playground features safe and innovative structures of ropes, rails and ladders. For directions, click here.

 

 

Kamakana Playground

Located in Harold H. Higashihara Park in Kona, this is a great spot on your way to Captain Cook or Two-step beach! Open from 7:00am to 8:00pm, this playground not only offers a variety of adventures for the kids, but also a day of fun for the adults. Along with the picnic tables, benches and water fountains, the property also has tennis courts, a baseball field, horseshoes and basketball hoops for you to enjoy! For directions, click here.
