State of Hawaii Official Site:   https://hawaiicovid19.com/travel/

State of Hawaii Safe Travels Portal:  https://travel.hawaii.gov/#/

Tests  are ONLY accepted from HAWAII TRUSTED TESTING AND TRAVEL PARTNERS. See Trusted Partners here.

Pre-Arrival tests must be NAAT Tests. Antigen and Antibody tests are NOT accepted.

Test results must be RETURNED BEFORE you fly to Hawaii. Tests must be done within 72 hours of flight leg to Hawaii’s departure time. Passenger pays for test.

County of Hawai’i (Big Island) also currently performs a 2nd test for arriving passengers at the Kona Airport (no cost).

Please be aware that information is constantly changing and we’ll do our best to keep this updated with information.

Negative Test results are to be loaded into the Safe Hawaii Travels  site:  https://travel.hawaii.gov/#/

Useful TIP:   Vault Health is a good option if you are not located in a major city with easy access to quick testing.    We have seen many visitors do this successfully.   One really important tip is to do a separate zoom call for each person taking the test in the family.     That way each zoom call is recorded separately.  We have one family that did everyone over a single Zoom call which led to confusion.   Thanks to Chris D. for the tip!  Also make sure to mark your package “STAT HAWAII”.

Please note you will need to show the QR code on your phone showing you are not subject to quarantine to the car rental company.   After that guests were free to enjoy a wonderful vacation on the Big Island of Hawai’i.

Persons under the age of five accompanied by a traveler who meets the negative test exception are not required to obtain a test prior to travel.”

  • Where can I get updated information from the Government?
  • How is the State determining what tests are accepted?

Exhibit B of the 14th proclamation: “State approved COVID-19 test” means a test to determine the presence of active COVID-19 infection that has been approved for use under these rules by the Hawaii Department of Health (DOH). Currently approved is the processing by laboratories that are licensed or certified by Clinical Laboratories Improvement Amendments (CLIA) of specimens for nucleic acid amplification testing approved or authorized by the United States Food and Drug Administration, pursuant to an Emergency Use Authorization or other authorization for COVID-19 testing.
