Kokua Monthly Vendor Stroll

Ali’i Drive

Kokua Kailua Stroll brings the heart of Kailua Village to life every month! This much loved community event transforms Ali‘i Drive into a bustling pedestrian marketplace filled with over 100 local artisans, crafters, delicious island cuisine, and live entertainment. Kokua Kailua happens one Sunday each month from 1 pm to 6 pm and stretches from the Kailua Pier through Historic Kailua Village to Hualalai Road. Kona’s Historic Kailua Village closes to vehicular traffic and becomes a festive, pedestrian-only outdoor marketplace that makes for a fun family-friendly day.

Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park Fee-Free Day

August 4th – Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park

In honor of the anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act, once a year the park waives its entrance feed. Visitors can explore active volcanic craters, hike through lush rainforests, and learn about the island’s powerful geological history without paying a dime. Additionally, ranger talks, guided walks, and cultural demos will often coincide with the day.

Queen Liliʻuokalani Outrigger Canoe Races

Aug 28–Sep 1 – Kailua-Kona

Held annually over Labor Day Weekend, this prestigious regatta is the world’s largest long-distance outrigger canoe competition. More 2,500 paddlers from around the world travel to Kona for four days of racing, cultural festivities, and aloha spirit. Watch the signature 18-mile women’s and men’s races along the Kona Coast!
