Suggested Road Trip #1

One of our favorite drives include north from Mauna Lani, Mauna Kea and Waiikoloa Beach Resort uo towards Hawi and Polulu Valley returning via Kohala Mountain Road to Waimea. Stop and check out art stores in Hawi, look for rainbows as you transition from desert to rainforest in a few miles and stand at the lookout over the Polulu valley in awai. Make sure to head back via Kohala Mountain Road and enjoy the gorgeous views of large ranches, rolling pastures and Maui in the distance. Stop for a coffee in Waimea or at one of the many farmers markets. Zip back down the mountain to the resort and top it off with a yummy Malasada.

Suggested Road Trip #2

Another fun drive from Kona is to head south and stop for a visit at Greenwell Farms for a Coffee Plantation tour. Enjoy a sip of pure Kona Mountain coffee before hitting the road and feeling the wind in your hair. Head down south of Captain Cook to visit the Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park. While there stop for a snorkel at “Two Step” at Honaunau Bay.
