Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Fee-Free Days
Aug 4th 2023 – Volcanoes National Park
The park will be free to enter on August 4th for the first anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act.
1st Hana No’eau Hawaiian Arts Festival
August 18th-19th, 2023 – Edith Kanaka’ole Tennis Stadium, Hilo
This new event celebrates Hawaiian culture and arts. The venue will have arts and crafts by some of Hawaii’s finest artisans, cultural demonstrations, and entertainment.
Queen Lili’uokalani Canoe Race
Aug 31-Sep 4, 2023 – Kailua-Kona
The Kai Opua Canoe Club has been hosting these races annually since 1971. It is the world’s largest long distance canoe race, following a historic course between Kamakahonu Beach in Kailua Bay and Pu’uhonua O Honaunau National Historic Park. Other races take place during the day, such as double-hull canoe races, relays, and more. There will be other activities surrounding the events, including the Historic Kailua Villa Cultural Walk; booths with arts, crafts and food; a Torchlight Parade; and the Queen Lili’uokalani Canoe Race Lu’au.
