Many people are choosing to trade their old snow boots for flip-flops and sink their toes in the warm Hawaiian sand for the holiday season. Here are a few ideas to ensure you have a Male Kalikimaka island-style.

Christmas tree with a tropical touch.

There are many wonderful places to enjoy dinner in the area. We recommend getting your reservations placed as soon as possible because things will book up quickly. Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year in Hawaii and availability can sometimes be limited. These are a few of our favorite places to dine out for special occasions:

Ruth Chris Steak House – Reservations required

Roy’s WaikoloaReservations required

Napua – Open on Christmas Eve, there are a limited number of reservations available.

Brown’s Beach House – Open Christmas eve and Christmas day, they are only taking same day reservation requests for non-Fairmont guests.

If you are looking for a more unique experience, you may choose to attend a luau with your family on Christmas Day. The Legends of Hawaii Luau at the Hilton Waikoloa Village is just a short drive up the road and you will have an unforgettable experience!

Decorations at the Shops at Mauna Lani.

What is a holiday without shopping? The Shops at Mauna Lani are a great place to find a unique gift for that special someone. They are very close by, which is quite convenient. Don’t forget to check out the Free Polynesian Hula show they offer every Monday & Thursday at 7pm.

If you are planning on venturing out a bit farther and taking a trip into town, Kailua-Kona has lots of great Open Air Shopping and fine Eateries. Keep in mind many of the shops will be closing early on Christmas Eve in observance of the holiday.

Christmas in Paradise

There is no better way to spend your holiday than on one of our world-famous beaches soaking in the rays. The only dilemma is picking the beach in which to stake your umbrella pole. Pack up the family, a picnic and enjoy… but don’t forget your sunscreen!
If you are missing the snow back home, you may be able to get a glimpse of it up on Mauna Kea, Hawaii’s highest mountain peak, and its close by sister, Mauna Loa. We heard that Santa may even have a secret outpost somewhere up there!
No matter how you choose to spend your holiday, we hope you have a wonderful time in Paradise!
